Their heads are too big!

So there's a stretchable neck strap on the Kids' Four Corners Apron -- kind of like a scrunchy -- on the Kids' Four Corners Apron. It has to be that way if you are going to have a single neck strap that circles around their neck and does not tie in the back with a knot. And why? Apparently, little kids' heads are so disproportionate to their bodies that if you don't make it stretchable, by the time you get it over their heads, the apron hangs down to low. It's not that way with adults! Does that mean kids are smarter than us  - Probably!!

Lots of comments on Binkie Bibs!

I think I get more correspondence on Binkie Bibs than any other pattern these days! Most think it is too small. Yes and no! My mistake is calling it a bib  -- and for a bib, it is probably too small. It is actually a Binkie holder (that name is not as cute as Binkie Bib! cute   ---- Binkie Holder! huh?) So I called it Binkie Bib but it is actually a binkie holder.  Sorry!

Dude Babies is also available as an Epattern! There are three versions in the pattern, Mr. Business Man, Mr. Formal, and Mr. Cowboy! Not sure which one I think is the cutest!

Diva Babies by Charlene

Today, we are posting a pic of some Diva Baby Bibs made by Charlene. I like the use of fabrics, especially the animal prints. The fussy cut on the blue bib is an excellent idea and of course, the pink fabric choices are simply sweet!

Pre-purchased black bias tape!

I haven't used this notion a lot but I did use it for an accent on the Tuxedo bib version of Dude Babies (P189) and it sure was fantastic to work with. I ought to come up with another project for this neat notion.
So just in time to make your holiday bib for Mr. Baby, get a load of Tuxedo Bib!

Letter openers for Sewing???

Yes, I use letter openers for sewing projects. ? They are actually great for smoothing out the edges of projects that have been turned right side out (rso for those that have been around awhile). Things like soft sculpture, pillows, placemats, anything with corners, purses, on and on.........
Let's say you have made of fabric doll. You have sewn the body of the doll, turned the body right side out, then stick the letter opener inside and smooth out all the edges from the inside with the letter opener. And then it just seems like you start using the letter opener for everything!! I suppose anything that is flat, with a somewhat dull pointed end, will work fine.

The top letter opener was a souvenir from a Nauvoo, IL giftshop. The other two are from Dollar Tree. The bottom letter opener is my favorite.

Kimono Bibs! (P207)

Check out our Kimono Bibs pattern. Love the gracefulness of this bib for little girls. Or use the button version for boys. A customer mentioned that the boy version should overlap the other way. Keep that in mind when you make one for a boy!

Binkie Bibs! Oh, my!

The last of our spring releases (probably!)  -- adorable Binkie Bibs! (P206).

The pattern has a fox, a doggie (some think it looks like a mouse), and the elephant! The cover photo is my gdau -- only took about 20 shots - and thankfully, one made it to the cover -- this isn't the cover shot but she sure is cute!

She never took a binkie before this photo shoot -- she now always wants her binkie -- thanks, gma!

Kimono Bibs!

Another very addictive project for a spring release pattern -- Kimono Bibs! 

As I have stated before, I do not always put juvenile print fabric on kids stuff. I think kids look great in sophisticated prints -- as long as the scale is right.  Try this Kimono Bib  (P207) version.

Not that we can't make juvenile prints look delicious!! This version of Kimono Bibs is for baby boys!

Dressing up for new year's!

So maybe it is time to get baby ready for a holiday party! The Tuxedo bib is perfect. Three bib versions: Mr. Formal, Mr. Cowboy, and Mr. Businessman (my personal favorite!).

Pretty in Bibs Photo Shoot (It's a lot harder than it looks!)

More of our experience shooting an 18-month-old. With hundreds of shots, you would think we would get a cover shot by accident but we only got a few!

Fall 2013 International Quilt Market Release! for Houston, TX!

Notice, it is release, not release'S'! Only finished one pattern this fall but we think it's a doozy! We took some 600 shots of my granddaughter to get one where she was:
        
       1) Holding still, maybe looking at the camera!
       2) Smiling, at least a little!
       3) The bib looks okay! 

Eighteen months old - she eventually pulled it off! It's called "Pretty in Bibs!" (P203)

This is actually smaller than the ones above - approx. 3-12 months.

The collar on the Dude Baby bib!

Several sewers have had questions about the collar on Dude Babies (P189). Since you sew the layers of the collar on one at a time, it is a bit different than traditional methods of sewing collars onto a main panel). So here's some pics that might help!

With right sides together, align the collars to the prepared bib panel (both layers sewn rst, turn rso, press, align the prepared tie in the center of the bib arrangement). Make sure there are loose 1/4" seam allowances in the very center. Sew the edges as shown in the above picture with 1/4" sas. 

Fold a collar up and press   - with seam allowances down.

With right sides together, align another collar piece as shown above, pin. Sew around the edges - notice the red thread seams (leave the bib section open for later hand sewing).

Remove pins. Clip corners. Turn right side out.

Repeat for the other side.

Make one very precise 1/4" cut in the very center (the brown fabric only).

Fold the raw edge of the open part under and hand sew from the center to the pink arrow.

Of course, you do this for right and left sides of the collar!!
